Giovani Intra: Side Effects

Giovanni Intra: Side Effects is a research-led exhibition realised through key works in the Dunedin Public Art Gallery collection, that examines the inner workings of Giovanni Intra (1968-2002) as he traversed the social impacts of modern medical theory. Intra was an artist, art writer, curator and gallerist working between Aotearoa New Zealand and the United States. He co-founded artist-run spaces Teststrip (1992-1997) in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland and China Art Objects (1999-) in Los Angeles alongside close friends.
This floor talk will be led by exhibition curator Anna McLean, who is the Dunedin Public Art Gallery Ihupukutaka Kairaupī Curatorial Intern for 2023/2024. Joining her is guest speaker Catherine Hammond, who was the research library manager at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki when the Giovanni Intra Archive was accessioned into the collection in 2007.
