Where do I end and you begin?

28 August 2014

DPAG curator Aaron Kreisler recently returned from the United Kingdom where he took part in the exhibition Where do I end and you begin at the City Art Centre in Edinburgh.  This exhibition that was organised by the Edinburgh Art Festival as part of its international programme, saw Kreisler join a select group of curators from the Commonwealth, including: Thembinkosi Goniwe, (from South Africa); Richard Hylton, (from the UK); Kathleen Ritter (from Canada); and Vidya Shivadas (from India).  On his arrival back in Dunedin, Kreisler spoke enthusiastically about his time in Scotland: “The exhibition and the New Zealand artworks and artists, who could nearly all attend the opening celebrations and events, were very well received by the arts professionals, fellow artists and audiences in this cultural and artistic hothouse.  In a city that explodes with exceptional creative activities during the Arts Festival, this group of New Zealand artists represented a diversity of practice, sense of the absurd and criticality that marked them out.  I know that this will be the beginning of a number of interesting conversations and opportunities for all the people involved in this amazing occasion.”
