A Floral Tribute

3rd Aug 2013 - 22nd Sep 2013

Flowers have captivated audiences since at least 600 BCE and continue to do so, both for their beauty and for their inherent healing properties.  The title of this exhibition references the late 19th and early 20th Century educational and philosophical movement known as nature-study which gave equal importance to both the aesthetic and the scientific values of the natural world. The show contains both decorative and botanical imagery from the Gallery’s collection and is a floral tribute in recognition of the 150th Anniversary of the Dunedin Botanic Garden.
