Printmaking

Printmaking
Printmaking can tie in with virtually any topic being studied in the classroom. We have an excellent range of equipment to make it safe and successful. In most workshops the printing block is made by gouging out soft chipboard.

Cardboard Prints        Level 1-4
Make a print block out of layers of thin card.

Foam Cut-Out Prints        Level 1-4
Shapes are drawn and cut from printing foam and texture marks are applied. They are then printed on a coloured background. The prints can be repeated to build up patterns. $1 per student.

Mono Prints        Level 1-4
Print blocks are rolled in a single colour and printed. $2 per student.

Double Prints        Level 1-4
This is an extension of the mono print workshop. The block is cleaned, dried and rolled again with a darker colour. A print is made on top of a previous print but slightly to one side. The top print may also be rotated producing some beautiful and unexpected effects. $2 per student.

Reduction Prints        Level 3-4
The first cut into soft chipboard is printed with a light coloured ink and then more of the image is removed with the second cut. When the original print is overprinted with a darker colour some print magic takes place. Allow two and a half hours for this workshop. $2 per student.

Embossing        Level 3-4
Wet paper on a carved woodblock is squeezed through a printing press to produce a beautiful embossed imprint. This workshop depends on having sufficient supplies of embossing paper in stock. $2 per student.
