Design Your Own Exhibition Level 1-4
This visit looks at the work of the curator in the process of selecting and arranging works in an exhibition space. Students will curate their own exhibition of miniature artworks.
Where Did You Get That Hat? Level 1-2
Look at the hats people are wearing in artworks, view historic film footage of hat fashion and play a game with an assortment of hats. The workshop involves students creating amazing fancy hats for cut out figures.
Smart Wearable Art Level 1-4
Get inspired by watching big screen edited video footage from the Wearable Art Awards followed by a collage workshop where students ‘dress up’ a cut-out or drawn figure. This will tie in perfectly with a school wearable show.
A Passion for Fashion Level 1-4
Discover changes in fashion over the centuries through looking at artworks and viewing film footage. In the workshop your students can design their own elegant fashion for a cut-out figure using lots of accessories including a pet with matching fashion. The visit ties in well with an education programme at the Otago Settlers Museum.
Mixed Media Pirates Level 1-4
Shiver me timbers! It’s time for some pirate portraits using mixed media. Now that’s real treasure!
Waste in Space Level 1-4
Spaceships zoom off to far away planets through a field of orbiting junk. This workshop uses humour to underline the fact that throwaway junk is unsafe and unsightly.
What a Load of Rubbish! Level 1-4
This workshop has a humorous focus on useful items that get thrown out with the rubbish. The workshop features bulldozers, trucks or cars with trailers at the rubbish dump.
Recyclops Level 1-4
Use recycled materials to create the ultimate trash monster. $2 per student.
Junk Cars Level 1-4
Use recycled materials to create toy cars, vans and trucks using loads of junk. $2 per student.
Junk Spaceships Level 1-4
Invent amazing spacecraft for intergalactic travel using loads of junk. $2 per student.
Juggling Junk Level 1-4
Watch the clown juggling all sorts of odd throw away objects.
Under the Big Top Level 1-4
Collage cut outs are used to create the most amazing death-defying circus acts in the world! This mixed media workshop is a lot of fun.
Puppet Fun Level 1-4
The puppet programme looks at the history of puppets and includes a hands-on session with a large range of puppets. Students will create their own puppets in the workshop. This visit ties in well with the puppet educational programme at the Otago Settlers Museum.
Collage Fish Level 1-4
Capture wonderful textures on large fish by making patterns with ripped or cut coloured pages from magazines. A textured collage border surrounding a brightly dyed sea completes the effect.

Landscape pictures gain a new layer of texture as features such as grass, trees, fences and the sun are added using brightly-coloured wool and large sewing needles.
Silhouettes of India Level 3-4
Using silhouettes and cut-outs the students capture a scene from India which may include buildings, elephants, tigers and peacocks.
Amazing Inventions Level 3-4
Inventing is all about having an open mind and being creative. After the theatre sport drama warm-up students will come up with the most fantastic inventions the world has never seen. The ideas will flow from combining unrelated collage cut outs.
