Historic Buildings / Cityscapes

Historic Buildings of Dunedin        Level 1-3
See film footage of Dunedin’s historic buildings bring them to life in vibrant colour in the workshop. This visit ties in well with the ‘Walk the City’ programme at the Otago Settlers Museum.

Medieval Townscape        Level 2-4
A silhouette townscape with a clock tower, church steeple and castle top is set against a beautiful sunset sky.

Cityscape        Level 2-4
Brightly coloured shops with neon signs occupy the foreground while office blocks loom up in the background.

Painted Historic Buildings of Dunedin        Level 3-4
Using only two colours and white students capture a historical building in paint.

Streetscape        Level 3-4
Sketch Moray Place and View Street from the Gallery’s back foyer area and then add colour in the classroom.

Trouble on the Empire State        Level 3-4
A famous image of New York is King Kong on top of the Empire State Building swatting aeroplanes. In this workshop King Kong is replaced by other giant animals such as tigers, frogs and spiders or icons like Homer Simpson.

Central Park, New York        Level 3-4
Central Park, with its beautiful elaborate fence, is surrounded by tall skyscrapers.

Yellow Cabs of New York        Level 3-4
The distinctive yellow cabs and the bright lights of shops provide a colourful foreground to black silhouette skyscrapers against a sunset sky.
