HUGGING TREES: POSTER COMPETITIONS. Using the materials provided in Playspace enter one of the following competitions:

Under 10 years: Create your favourite tree and write a sentence telling why you love it.

Over 10 years:  Create a poster about how vital trees are.

Your judge is the wonderful Raymond Huber, University of Otago College of Education/Creative New Zealand Children’s Writer in Residence, who is writing a children’s book on trees. Great prizes!

Friends Talk

The Arts of Migration. Dr Thomas McLean, Department of English and Linguistics, University of Otago, writes for the collaborative website The Migrationist on museums, exhibitions, and works of art that explore the theme of migration. McLean will look at a variety of migrant encounters and experiences in the work of New Zealand and Australian artists, from the nineteenth century to the present.
